Who is Ritorikal? (Short)
TL;DR...
Hi, I'm Josh! I've been making music since 2009 and pursuing it seriously since 2015. I currently make all kinds of music under various names with Ritorikal being my main alias for multi-genre releases.
Ritorikal = Original Music & Commission Work (Multi-Genre)
I also make beats for sale/lease and/or exclusive negotiations (Multi-Genre), and offer various other services such as mixing/mastering and feedback!
I'd just like to say thanks for giving my music a chance, and I can't wait to release more stuff for you all!
IMPORTANT:
Absolutely no unauthorized remixes or vocal work to any of my tracks are allowed. PLEASE reach out to me via E-Mail or social DMs first about that or licensing for bigger projects like games, commercials, etc...

Who is Ritorikal? (Long)
The Story So Far...
I decided to pick up music production over spring break as a hobby when I was in 7th grade (2009), begging my sister to borrow her laptop so I could play around with FL Studio. I was immediately overwhelmed and frustrated while attempting to learn the software, so I ended up giving up for the rest of that year. As time went on and I got more into electronic music and watching breakdown videos and stuff, I wanted to challenge myself again, so I picked it back up at the beginning of 2010. I wouldn't actually get my first laptop until MUCH later, so I had FL on a flash drive that I would use in my computer classes and at my neighbors house to practice until then.
If memory serves me correctly, I wouldn't decide on the name Ritorikal until 2012. Quick backstory about that is I was just looking for a cool looking name to have on Xbox Live and after about 3 hours of discussing with some close friends, I decided that since "rhetorical" is one of my favorite words, I would do the thing where you spell it different and make it an alias -- sticking with it ever since that day. Even at this point, I wasn't super focused on music. I was mostly heavy into Call Of Duty clans, montage making, and learning video editing. I would still drop the occasional track on Soundcloud here and there, but that's about it.
We now fast forward to my freshman year of college (fall of 2015), things aren't looking all that great, and I'm quickly realizing that I'm not really the college type. Latching onto this, I start pouring more energy into music rather than other studies, officially marking the year I started pursuing a career in music more seriously. I received the news of being unable to continue my attendance at the college at the end of 2016 which stung for a while, but I saw it coming.
The next year comes, 2017, and this would be the year I make and release 2 of my most notable songs.
"Synergy" and “Jive”
"Synergy" holds significance because it was initially a self-release, but in 2017, I would join the Bass Rebels label discord where the owner (Danny) would ask me to introduce myself in the introduction channel. Links were allowed in introductions, so I mostly mentioned my love for music and linked my soundcloud. Not even 30 minutes after doing so, I get a message from Danny expressing interest in signing "Synergy". Naturally I was excited, agreed, and went through the process of taking it down from the platform I was using to distribute at the time so I could send it over to him. The rest is history.
"Jive" holds significance because it was a sleeper track. An experiment gone rogue when I decided one day that I was going to intentionally restrict myself to making a song under a genre I've never done before in 5 hours. I went with Electro Swing, and shortly after, "Jive" was created. I've always seen it as my worst track, but as the universe would have it, these are the things that tend to come into the most attention. This track would exist in my discography without any eyes on it until around New Years 2019 when it would start getting not hundreds, but THOUSANDS of views out of nowhere. I believe it to be a stroke of SEO/algorithm luck due to the title having "[Electro Swing]" and that genre absolutely popping off at the time. Because of this, "Jive" is somehow still currently my most "popular" original self-released track and I honestly don't know how to feel about that.

Jumping forward in time to present day Ritorkal endeavors, I'm still currently living with my parents, unemployed since 2018, and doing everything in my power to make full-time music a reality. Trying my best to just be in the moment and enjoy every little thing about the process while continuing to bring you all the best music I can.
Thanks for supporting me so far!
